The firm began with the birth of Henry Griffith in 1825 and specialized in giftware. It became victim of the collapse of the silver market  when brothers Nelson and William Hunt attempted to corner the silver market, concluding in Silver Thursday. Henry Griffith and Son Limited closed in 1982.
