Engraved with the coat of arms of Cropley on exterior and presentation on interior lid, "Gulielmo Cropley  Ob Spinam pede exemptam Joannis Warner 1775"

"Gulielmo Cropley" is referring to William Cropley, who was a baronet and became vicar of Westham upon the resignation of Rev. John Warner in 1775.* This commemorative gift to Rev. Cropley from Rev. Warner takes the form reminiscent of freedom boxes. These boxes, usually round, contained a document issued by a city or town that bestowed rights and privileges upon the alien recipient.

Sponsor’s marks on lid and base; corresponding standard mark on base.

1 1/8" height, 3 1/4" length, 4 3/8" width. 6.6 troy ounces.
